Meet your Program Director, Malia!

Malia is excited to return to LE as the Brazil Program Director! After volunteering during PY19, she knew she wanted to continue her involvement with the organization; she loved the cross-cultural experience she shared with her host community in Brazil and wanted to help create a similar enjoyable experience for future volunteers.

Malia holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and certification in Spanish and International Development from the University of Maryland. She currently works in Spain as an English Language Assistant with the Ministry of Education. In her free time she enjoys traveling, learning languages and watching documentaries.

Meet your Program Director, Jess!

Jess is a recent graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in teaching with a concentration in environmental education. She began her involvement with LE as a volunteer in Romania in PY19, then returned as the Romania Program Director in PY20.

PY21 was Jess’s third year with LE and in addition to continuing as the Romania Program Director, she took on the role of Director of Programming. Her continued love for LE and all that it promotes motivated her to return for a fourth year, now as the PY22 Director of Branding and Communications as well as the Hungary & Romania Program Director. From Jess you can expect tons of passion, detailed planning and an incredible program!

In her spare time, Jess enjoys reading, exploring museums, listening to music and cooking.

He loves learning languages and on top of Chinese, Spanish, and German, he hopes to learn a lot of Mongolian this summer.
